“Detalhes” (Live) by the Legendary Roberto Carlos, plus a 1979 classic

Growing up in the 70’s in Spain, the Brazilian Roberto Carlos was all over the place, along with Abba en Español (yes, they recorded in Spanish too), Richard Clayderman, Leif Garrett, Enrique y Anna and other cringeworthy and cool acts. I remember spending lazy sunday afternoons drawing and painting as Roberto Carlos played on the record player. Carlos recorded in both Spanish and Portuguese and he just took Spain and all of Latin America by storm. Then, in college, a Salvadoran friend (yo Manuel, where are you?) and I drove home from San Francisco one night singing along to anthems like “Amigo.” Good music for good times, but very mellow.  Below is a very recent live recording of one of his most celebrated hits, and below it, in all of his 70’s glory, Roberto Carlos singing “El gato que está triste y azul.”

  1. Crecí escuchando estas canciones porque a mi papá le gusta mucho Roberto Carlos, y cuando estaba viendo estos videos mi papá se acercó y comenzó a cantar, nunca lo había visto u oído cantar fue una experiencia muy bonita🙂
